In Medellín, three tours listed on WizardTrip cover a neighborhood, an excursion and a museum. Comuna 13 with tastings lasts 3 hours. The excursion to Guatapé and El Peñol rock takes 10 to 11 hours. The Pablo Escobar Museum can be seen in 45 minutes to 1.5 hours.

The three listings have 9,503, 8,177 and 7,148 reviews. Their ratings are 4.9, 5.0 and 4.9 out of 5 (as of 18 October 2026). This article compares their programs, what is included, the entrance fees to pay on top and the audience each one suits.

Medellín tours: what you need to know before choosing

The three tours do not share a starting point. Comuna 13 begins at the Garden Coffee, in the 20 de Julio neighborhood. The Guatapé excursion leaves from Parque El Poblado, at the church, or from certain hotels in El Poblado. For the museum, the meeting point is the museum itself.

Comuna 13 tour with tastings: graffiti and escalators

The Comuna 13 graffiti tour lasts 3 hours. The meeting point is the Garden Coffee, Calle 38a #108-21; for a taxi or an Uber, just give that address. The guide speaks English or Spanish, and the group can reach 70 people. A loudspeaker helps the guides be heard.

The route climbs to Independence 1, a hill known for its graffiti. According to the listing, it then stops at the guide’s grandmother’s house. A mango ice cream, with salt and lime, is served there. Electric escalators then lead to the top, with a view of the city. At Independence 2, the guide talks about the history of the neighborhood, including the largest urban mass grave in the world.

The price includes a patacón with hogao, the ice cream, access to the escalators, art performances and viewpoints. The listing mentions no other meal. It says the escalators serve more than 150,000 residents. It gives no departure times.

Reviews are very good, but vary with the guide and the time of day. Jihan, in September 2026: “I did the morning tour and it wasn’t too crowded.” A September 2026 traveler (4 out of 5) regrets tastings limited to a few snacks. A 1-out-of-5 review, from August 2026, reports 45 minutes of waiting at the meeting point and 20-minute shopping stops.

Guatapé excursion from Medellín: the rock, a colorful town and a boat ride

The excursion to Guatapé and El Peñol rock lasts 10 to 11 hours. Pickup begins at 6:30 am at certain hotels in El Poblado, with a wait of 5 minutes at most. The meeting point, Parque El Poblado, at the church, opens at 6:50 am, with a 10-minute wait. On public holidays and in high season, the time is moved earlier by 30 to 40 minutes.

The program starts with a Colombian breakfast. It goes by Guatapé rock (El Peñol), for 1.5 hours. The town of Guatapé, also 1.5 hours, offers its colorful zócalos, the umbrella street and the promenade. Lunch is regional. A boat ride on the reservoir and a stop at an animal and llama farm follow. The guide may change the order of the stops and picks the farm’s location according to traffic.

From the boat, you can see the ruins of Pablo Escobar’s Hacienda La Manuela. A September 2026 review warns that the ride does not include swimming: no need to bring a swimsuit. An October 2026 review notes that the boat’s audio guide is prerecorded.

The price includes breakfast, lunch, the boat ride and the town visit. It also covers the animal farm, a professional guide and travel insurance. The stop at the rock is included, but the climb is optional and its entrance fee is paid separately. Vegetarian and vegan options are requested from the guide.

Vincent, in September 2026 (4 out of 5), finds the breakfast very basic and the lunch decent. He thinks the excursion could cost a little less. The listing sets the maximum group at 150 people. The excursion runs in all weather, but may be canceled if there are too few participants.

Pablo Escobar Museum tour: what you see

The Pablo Escobar Museum tour lasts 45 minutes to 1.5 hours. The meeting point and the return are at the museum. A bilingual Spanish and English guide leads the tour, and admission is included. Photography is allowed; snacks and tips are not included.

According to the listing, the museum displays objects of Pablo Escobar now held by his eldest nephew, Nicolás Escobar. You see furniture with secret compartments, parts of crashed airplanes and a helicopter, and armored vehicles. His first race car and a Lambretta scooter are also on display. The listing further mentions the James Bond jet ski and the historic airplane of Hacienda Nápoles. It touches on the story of a neighborhood he built for disadvantaged communities. A souvenir shop completes the visit.

Reviews differ on the value of the visit. An August 2026 traveler writes: “you can tour the whole place in about an hour.” A 1-out-of-5 review, from August 2025, finds the space very small and regrets that a tip is requested on top of the admission. A January 2026 review (4 out of 5) describes a booking handled through WhatsApp. At 9 am, the full tour was unavailable: the author took the basic tour.

A November 2025 review specifies that the museum is a replica of a Pablo Escobar hideout, backed by his nephew. The museum is wheelchair accessible. Strollers and service animals are allowed, and public transportation runs nearby.

Rain, children, wheelchairs: what the listings say

As for rain, the Comuna 13 listing provides for possible cancellation in bad weather, or for lack of participants. The Guatapé excursion runs in all weather, unless there are too few participants. The museum listing says nothing about the weather.

With children, Comuna 13 welcomes infants and young children, in a stroller or pram, with specialized seats on request. In Guatapé, infants sit on an adult’s lap. For children aged 0 to 2, food and drinks are not included. The museum also allows strollers.

For wheelchairs, only the museum listing confirms accessibility. Comuna 13 involves walking and stairs, and its listing does not mention wheelchairs.
